Positives on Tap for ‘Back to the Future’ State of Real Estate January 31

When the curtain rises on F.C. Tucker/Lafayette Realtors “Back to the Future,” the 18th Annual State of Real Estate, 5 p.m., Tuesday, January 31, theater-goers can expect to see the credits roll a lot of positives, says Lou Johnson, broker for F.C. Tucker/Lafayette Realtors Residential Division.

The event, cosponsored by Greater Lafayette Commerce and featuring movie theater treats and take-offs on the popular film, “Back to the Future,” will be held at The Lafayette Theater, 600 Main St., Lafayette. It is free and open to the public. Reservations are requested; please call 447-8886.

“Supply and demand are beginning to show signs of leveling, interest rates are lower, and 2011 sales kept pace even without the stimulus funds that helped 2010 residential sales,” Johnson said. “I see lots of positives in the residential market, and I’m encouraged.”

Kevin Bol, associate broker for Tucker’s Commercial Division, is equally upbeat about local commercial sales and developments. He and broker associate Jennifer Stanfield will highlight several projects on the drawing board and under way.

Statewide and across most of the nation, the trend was stabilization, says H. James Litten, president, Residential Real Estate Services Division, F.C. Tucker Company Inc., Indianapolis, who will also speak.

“In 2011, we saw the residential housing market stabilize, and I’m optimistic that in 2012 we’ll see more of a recovery,” Litten said.

“We’re busy,” Johnson says. “People are tired of taking a wait-and-see attitude. They’re taking advantage of the good interest rates. And if our current activity is a predictor, we’ll see a solid 2012.”
